About these terms
These terms cover the Kanzai desktop application, including free use. iQit BV, trading as Kanzai, supplies Kanzai from Uilenstraat 73, 9100 Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. Its enterprise number is 0870.611.820 and its VAT number is BE 0870.611.820. Write to support@kanzai.io with a question about these terms. Kanzai is licensed, not sold. Third-party components retain their own licenses.
Permitted use
Subject to the agreed license and mandatory law, the supplier grants you a non-exclusive right to install and use Kanzai for your personal or internal business projects. You must have authority to access the repositories, files, accounts and services you connect. Do not redistribute or resell Kanzai or license keys, infringe others’ rights, or use the app unlawfully. Restrictions do not limit rights that applicable law gives you, including permitted interoperability, backup and reverse engineering rights. No ownership of your repositories or work is transferred to the supplier.
Free use and paid access
Without a valid key, Kanzai permits three agents at once, two actions per project and one custom column per project. An agent counts while its card is in Development or Review, and an action’s agent turn counts while it runs. Free use has no countdown. A valid key lifts those three caps. Projects, cards, repositories and the project assistant are not capped by these limits. Agent-provider subscriptions and usage charges are separate.
The price is shown at checkout before you pay. One key covers three machines. The license is a monthly subscription. Polar charges your payment method on each monthly billing date until you cancel. Polar counts machine activations. A key already cached on the same machine is validated again when pasted. To move to a new machine, release the old one in your Polar customer portal. Kanzai has no in-app control for that. Offline KZ1 keys do not call Polar or enforce an activation count. The agreed machine allowance still applies.
Activation, expiry and termination
Pasting a key can activate it immediately; pressing Enter also submits it. Polar activation needs a network connection. A successful check is cached for fourteen days. After that, an unreachable license service restores the free caps until validation succeeds. Revocation or expiry can take effect only after the cache stops being valid. KZ1 keys expire at the date encoded in the key. A system clock more than one day behind the stored clock mark can also restore free caps.
Expiry restores the free limits; it does not delete your boards, worktrees or diffs. Existing excess actions and columns remain stored but are locked in the configuration interface. Running sessions can still be accessed and stopped. You can still review and merge work. You may stop using and uninstall Kanzai at any time. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription or automatically erase local project data.
The supplier may terminate this license for a material breach after notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy it, unless immediate action is required by law. Statutory refund and remedy rights remain available. Commercial cancellation is addressed in the purchase and refund terms.
Agents, files and commands
Kanzai launches agents and tools that can read and change accessible files, execute shell commands, contact external services and use configured credentials. Task worktrees isolate branches; they are not a guarantee of security isolation. Permissions depend on the agent and its configuration. Do not assume every command prompts for approval. Task agents may continue running after Kanzai closes.
You choose the tasks and access you grant. Review prompts, permissions, commands, diffs, generated content and test results before approving, merging or publishing work. Keep appropriate backups. Check output for errors, secrets and third-party rights. Agent output can be incorrect or harmful. Human review is part of using the product; it does not waive the supplier’s legal obligations.
Updates
The app checks for updates at launch. It also checks when you pick “Check for updates…” from the Kanzai menu under the logo. Installation requires your action and restarts the app. The updater verifies signed downloads. The current updater does not require a paid license. Updates are available while your subscription is live. Nothing here promises indefinite future releases. If Kanzai is discontinued, subscribers are told at least thirty days before, and no charge is taken after that notice. Any agreed maintenance period and legally required updates must be honored.
Warranties and liability
To the extent the law permits, Kanzai is provided as available without a promise that it is error-free or suitable for every purpose. For business users, the supplier excludes indirect or consequential loss and loss of profits, to the extent lawful. Nothing excludes or limits liability for fraud, deliberate misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Consumers retain all mandatory rights, including conformity, required updates, repair or replacement, price reduction, termination and refunds where applicable. No disclaimer, termination provision or other clause overrides those rights. Belgian law governs these terms. Claims go to the Belgian courts of the supplier’s registered seat. A consumer keeps the right to bring a claim in the courts of their own country.
